As Dusk Descends
words by Luna
As the light fades
and the colors grow dim
I feel the steady,
gnawing ache
within
There is no clock
to rewind
no film to replay
no way to suspend
the end of this day
Helplessly watching,
hopelessly waiting
I hear the relentless clock,
silently ticking
a bitter song
that heralds
the night to come
marking the time
as the hours count down
As I watch
the light inside you
slowly fade
my heart grows
accustomed
to this now familiar pain
Have I said all the words
that should be said?
Do you know
of the legacy
that you have left?
I remember the images,
scenes of
a happier time
I will replay them often
in the theater
of my mind
But for now
I wait solemnly,
heavy heart in hand
and try to ease
your passing
as dusk descends
